When I was a little girl, my dad loved to explain how the forces of nature, thunder, lighting, photosynthesis, etc., were scientifically possible. My dad loves to know things, and loves talking, so it worked really well when he had a child who who cared to listen. I remember a time when he explained how tornados formed. I was intrigued, and immediately the gears in my head started spinning. We had a stairwell that could be the perfect breeding ground for a tornado. I knew that we had two different thermostats in the house which meant that we definitely had two different A/C units. All I needed to do was simulate the warm and cold fronts, and wait in the stairwell for the magic to happen. So, I did. Hot air rises, so the upstairs needed to be as cold as possible. Check. Downstairs thermostat at maximum heat. Check. I waited on the balcony, I would be Mother Nature today. Needless to say it didn't work, and fortunately my dad sensed the drastic change in temperature before I could do any permanent damage to the units.
